Freedom From Oil
Posted on 2009-04-08 09:42:53 by dcmaker

First off anytime you consolidate (acquisition as well as mergers) you cripple the market place (Exxon/Mobil - the big telecoms, the financial sector, as well as media). It’s bad on behalf of business, it’s bad on behalf of democracy, it’s bad on behalf of America as well as its a blatant power grab.

Big oil dug in like a tick blocks new technology through legislation as well as monopoly, as well as even places their minions into the Executive Branch (President & Vice President).

That we find our selves mucking it up in the oil fields in Iraq isn’t a big surprise. That half of the voting population dropped on behalf of the saber rattling, bible thumping as well as jingoism is, but then again maybe that’s half of the population that knew damn right well what we were doing as well as was okay with it - at the end of all “drill baby drill” was their battle cry this past November

A Book Review: Red Hot Lies - Counter Point
Posted on 2009-03-24 10:08:53 by dcmaker

I stumbled into this article (linked below) of heavy breathing as well as patronizing rhetoric about how stupid as well as perverted the younger generation is to trust in melting ice caps as well as Global Warming as well as tossed off a letter to the newspaper that printed this shameful screed on our children. The phrase that jumped out at me is in quotes as well as in bold below - my response is as follows, the paper is the Hawaii Reporter. Whether they are printing this stuff to trigger response as well as readership isn’t debatable, whether they lack journalistic integrity isn’t debatable, whether they actually trust this stuff is worrisome.

“…the political menace of the global warming issue…” - ——— is that pollution is bad (genius).

Wherever you drop on the political spectrum all of us agree pollution is bad. We are operational around with traces of pesticides as well as pollutants in our blood stream. Dirty energy causes war - resource wars - there's one going on right now. If the US Government dumped half the money it spent on securing oil fields as well as su

Why Do I Do It?
Posted on 2009-03-19 15:34:00 by dcmaker

Why do I consistently pass on email alerts to my friends as well as family as well as those on facebook as well as myspace why? Everyday the lobbyist are up on capital hill looking out on behalf of their posses self interest…country first…I laughed out loud at those RNC political banners at the conventions. Reason sufficient right?

Well here's the predominant reason as well as it underscores the industry first, profit first, mindset that has to change.

“…Recent studies have found over 200 industrial chemicals in umbilical cord blood in U.S. fetuses, as well as nearly 300 chemicals in an estimated all adults. Cancer rates have increased 48% in the last fifty years, excluding cancers of the lung as well as stomach as well as changed on behalf of an aging population, according to the National Cancer Institute.

Governmental environmental health policy is anemic, as well as the agencies that enforce it dysfunctional, though improving. Genetic distortion, birth defects, diabetes, early onset of puberty, ADHD, cancer, asthma, obesity, as well as myriad other health difficulties are associated with toxic industrial chemicals in everyda

Colin Linden - Easin’ Back to Tennessee
Posted on 2009-03-19 10:57:06 by dcmaker

Colin Linden’s album (I love saying album instead of cd) Easin’ Back to Tennesse is a tour de-force of pickin’, slidin’, rockin’ as well as testifyin’. Largely acoustic blues it still has some electric edge to it as well as the song selections are well laid out. I can not espouse on this man or his extensive career, as well as I have only heard this one album. But I have to tell you if you love the acoustic guitar, if you love some great, tasteful pickin’ as well as if you don’t mind kicking on the electric from time to time as well as the blues well this album is on behalf of you. It has a little bit of everything including some wild lyrics. Go sample out at Colin’s site.

You’ll become a fan fast! I highly recommend this disc to everyone!

Voting Against The Budget - as well as What it Means
Posted on 2009-03-19 10:16:20 by dcmaker

The powers that be are all heavily invested in dirty energy sources oil, coal as well as nuclear. They know their day of reckoning is coming as well as are fighting as hard as ever to hang onto their subsidies.

Business doesn’t care about the health of the country or its citizens. It cares about it’s individual business plan. That’s why corporations manufacture lousy global or national managers as well as leaders. They shouldn’t be operational things because of the fact that their self interest runs counter to whats good on behalf of America or the Globe.

We have to go back to public financing of elections, we have to dissolve the “corporation as person” laws as well as hold the board of directors responsible on behalf of their business decisions, pollution as well as market manipulation, as well as we have to heavily invest in the emerging green economy.

It’s ironic that our way out of this mess is simply to do the right thing as well as reside sustainably as well as equitably. However the corrupt who have spent decades/centuries building as well as hanging onto power are not just going to roll over.<
